Jessica Jane

This blog started as a place for me to write my story and to connect with those I moved away from. By documenting my life, I've been able to capture the faces, places, and moments that make life worth living. Also, I've had the opportunity to connect with others in the blogging community. The experience has been wholly rewarding, so I have decided to take my site more seriously.

So whether you’re a loyal veteran of "Living the LA Life" or a first time visitor, I’ve decided to share some things you may not know about me:

My first name comes from my grandfather, Jess and my middle name from my great grandmother, Jane. This bracelet was once hers and is now a prized possession of mine. If I have a daughter, I plan to pass both the bracelet and the name to her.
I’m a self diagnosed cat lady. I adore my cat, Cali and often refer to her as my cat daughter. Yes, I’m one of those and proud of it.
I met Matt at a fraternity party (I know, not exactly the typical place where love is found but it worked). My brother Danny and Matt are both members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, but attended different Universities. Danny invited me to party that Matt’s chapter happened to be attending. We hit it off immediately and the next day went to Disneyland on our first date.
My style icon is my grandma. She the most elegant and well dressed woman I know. Despite being in her 70’s she still rocks high heels and wouldn’t dare leaving the house without red lipstick.
I love my BIG, fat, Mexican family! Big is no exaggeration - we've long ago moved past family trees and had to create a family forest to hold the lot of us.
I never pay full retail anymore. I love the thrill of the hunt and can be found shopping clearance racks, thrift stores, sample sales, and trunk shows. I definitely have champagne tastes that I manage on a beer budget.
I'm nearly ambidextrous. Most people are impressed by this trait, but the truth is my "skill" is born in laziness. If there is a pair a scissors on the table I'll simply use whichever hand is closer to pick them up and then start cutting. It's something I don't think about till I feel people staring at me in class and realize I have a pencil in each hand, one writing my name at the top of the paper while the other is erasing a mistake. I've recently been exercising this skill by writing and drawing with both hands simultaneously.
I'll share show art work soon!

I hope you learned a little about me and continue to stop by!

  2. I think it's fun to revisit things about ourselves. I think it helps remind us that we're special and unique. :)
